Brock Air Services conducted it's first flight in 1978 using a single-engine Piper. Later, It acquired a Piper Twin Comanche, Thus providing its clients with extra speed and the reliability offered by a twin engine aircraft. Having the twin permitted Brock Air to conduct revenue flights not only at night but also under instrument flying conditions. Initially, the Twin Comanche proved to be a wise selection. It was inexpensive to operate and sipped a miserly 15 gallons of fuel per hour. However, as the list of clientele grew so did the demand for larger aircraft. In 1981 Brock Air purchased a Piper Navajo. The aircraft proved to be an instant success with the passengers, pilots and maintenance staff.

"Every Client is different. Each has a special need".

Brock air recognized that versatility was an important start to customer satisfaction. Just as employees were trained to be multi-functional, so became the Company aircraft. Pilots could return from an executive charter in Baltimore, remove the tables and chairs and slide in the air ambulance configuration. Two hours later they could be flying a patient to northern Ontario. The aircraft was also equipped for priority air freight. Local industry soon caught onto Brock Air's ability to fly a part to a customer faced with the dilemma of an assembly line shut down. Speciality flying was also made possible by the purchase of a single engine aircraft, the Cessna 172 Skyhawk. Brock Air uses this aircraft to conduct aerial photography, fly pipeline patrols and participate in wildlife management projects. Satisfying a clients needs and training personnel for a variety of roles is still fundamental to the company's day to day operations. In addition to flying, Brock Air also has an 18 year history of managing the Brockville Municipal Airport. Aviation consulting and especially corporate flight department start-up are exciting new facets of the business that the company has recently embarked upon.

"Listening to what the client says"

When clients started asking for a pressurized cabin and more speed the Cessna 421 Golden Eagle was purchased. Effective client communication has always been valued. While E-Mail offers a fresh approach, the favored form of communication remains meeting with the clients face to face, in their office and at their convenience.

President Dean Glover

It is often said that one's formative years are the most important. Lessons learned then, will influence the rest of one's adult life. As I reflect back on my youth, growing up in the Rideau Lakes district of Southeastern Ontario, this has certainly been the case for me. My Grandparents owned a fishing lodge and at the age of 13 I started guiding American sportsmen. This was my first introduction to the ways of the weather and the responsibility associated with being in charge, things that would be so important in later years. Just as valuable, were the human lessons learned from my clients who quite often were more successful in their professional lives than their fishing. Maybe, it's better that I didn't stay with guiding. I graduated from Durham College's Air Transport Technology program in 1975. The lure of the North beckoned and I spent two years as a crewman on DC-3s and Cansos travelling up and down the coastline of Hudson Bay. To-day, after logging more than 7,000 hours in the air, flying is still enjoyable. However, bringing a new client home from a successful business meeting is every bit as rewarding. My Grandfather passed away many years ago. My Grandmother, who retired at the age of 75, still lives at home. Occasionally, I have the pleasure of flying over her house and those same lakes that I guided on some 30 years ago. I'll be forever grateful for the lifelong friends and business acquaintances that I've made through aviation.
